LYNDSEY, JULIE AND EMMA'S ACOUSTIC NIGHT

On the 29th of April, Lyndsey, Emma and Julie held a fundraiser in the form of an acoustic night in Cafe Aroma in Wellington church. They asked some people they knew to come and provide a bit of music through singing and playing guitar or keyboard, and served many different types of desserts thanks to many people who volunteered to bake for the occasion. A great night was had by all who attended and a short summary of the impact that any donations given would have on the ASHA charity and the children in Delhi. They managed to raise £463.50 for this amazing cause!

Here are a few photos from the event:

A huge thanks to all who helped out by baking, performing or for coming along and giving a donation!

SASHA'S CHINESE BANQUET AND RAFFLE

On the 8th of May, I held a chinese banquet and raffle at Bambou in Templepatrick. The raffle included prizes such as champagne, chocolate, a Molten Brown set and a few Indian saris and shawls. The Indian clothing caused great amusement at the end of the night when they were modelled by several male winners! A short presentation on the work of Asha was given. The chinese food was delicious and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The evening came to a conclusion with music provided by a band and a lot of dancing! I'm very grateful for everyone who came to support me. Many people who couldn't attend were very thoughtful in their donations also. The night was a huge success raising £1160. I'd like to thank everyone for their generosity!

MOLLY'S COFFEE MORNING

On the 15th of August I held a coffee morning at my house as my main fundraiser. It was a great success raising almost £500 for this worthwhile cause! I'd like to thank everyone who came and gave such generous donations, and especially those who baked for the event, it is so appreciated!

LUCY'S BEN NEVIS CLIMB

For my fundraising event, I decided to climb the highest mountain in the UK- Ben Nevis! It was a long 8 hour trek up and down the mountain: with blood, sweat and a sunburnt face! However the knowledge of the great cause that my fundraising was going to gave me the motivation to keep going. It was an incredible experience with stunning views at the top- I was so shocked at the amount of snow there! I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and thank everyone for their generous donations! Here are some photos from my hike!

DAVID'S FANTASTIC FOUR

Over the past 6 months I have undertaken three main fundraisers with the fourth in the next few weeks. Between March and May I asked children from my youth club to fill smarties tubes with 20p’s and their eagerness and generosity was overwhelming. In total I raised £110.60 and I can’t thank the children enough. Then on Saturday the 15th August I participated in a car boot sale at the Vineyard Church in Coleraine. Over 2000 people attended this event and with help from my mum I managed to raise £100.90. My final fundraising event was a football match, BBQ and bonfire held on the 24th of August to celebrate my 18th Birthday. Instead of gifts however, I felt a donation to the Asha charity would be of greater benefit. A great night was had and a total of £170 was made. I also have a fourth fundraiser planned on the 20th of September which will take the form of a praise service in Cullybackey RPC. Everyone is most welcome and I anticipate the support of friends and family. I would like to thank everyone who has supported my fundraising events to date; your generosity has been amazing!!

LYNDSEY'S BIRTHDAY BBQ
In July I held a fundraiser at my house that took the form of a BBQ to celebrate my birthday and the end of exams for everyone. Despite the rain there was a great turn out and we ate a lot of food (indoors). I asked if instead of buying me a birthday present that people could donate to ASHA. People were very generous and I'd like to thank everyone that came as I was able to raise a total of £350!

REBECCA'S COFFEE MORNING

For my main fundraiser I decided to hold a coffee morning in my mum's work. It was held on the 25th of June and was a great success, with close to £500 raised! However a lot of work had to be done. To prepare for the coffee morning I went to shops
to plan which foods to serve and work out which ingredients were the
cheapest to use. I then had to try out different recipes and see which
ones were the best tasting - several goes were needed for some scones! I
obviously couldn't bake everything but with the help of some people in
mum's work and bringing some food from the shops, I had enough food to
feed everyone. I also had to make some posters to inform people about
the trip to Delhi and I had a notice board with lots of photos from
previous trips to help show where the money will go. We had a raffle as
well with lots of prizes to be won. On the actual morning I was up very
early to set up for the event and my mum was a massive help. Lots of
people turned up who gave generously and I was so happy that all of the
 hard work paid off!

JOHNNY'S MARACYCLE

I decided for my fundraising I would cycle from Belfast to Dublin with my dad as I wanted to do a fundraising event which involved being active. It was very challenging but also a rewarding experience, as I knew I was raising money for a good cause. The cycle took around 8 hours. I set off at queens playing fields at 7:30 and reached Dublin a few seconds after 'Lance Armstrong' (my dad). I managed to raise £1650 for ASHA.

JULIE'S CHINESE MEAL AND TABLE QUIZ

On Monday the 20th of April I organised a chinese evening meal and a table quiz in the Go Sun in Ballymena. The food was enjoyed by everyone and we were all stuffed by the end. It was no help that we were in stitches from chuckling at the table quiz organised by a family friend. The winning table got their prizes meanwhile I discovered that I needed to work on my general knowledge after my table came last. Alongside the great chats and laughs, I was very touched by the generosity everyone showed me. From the night and donations people gave me afterwards I raised around £1000. Thanks to everyone who donated, it was much appreciated!

TORI'S CYCLE

My fundraiser took place on Saturday 1st August where I did a 5 hour spin cycle which took place in the Tower Centre in Ballymena. I felt this was a good way to fundraise money as by being on the sports team, I thought it would be  something that I would enjoy whilst raising money for ASHA - both proved to be correct! Although it was a tough challenge to keep cycling for the full 5 hours, people's generosity and encouraging words kept me motivated to raise a very pleasing amount proving my hard work had paid off.

CAMERON'S COFFEE MORNING

On May 9th I held a coffee morning in aid of ASHA at Ballyloughan Presbyterian Church. After getting nervous about not having a great turn out I was surprised and glad to see so many people coming to support both myself and the team! Not only was I shocked to see such a great number of people but I was also overwhelmed at the generosity of everyone who came. In total we raised in excess of £1300 and I'm just so thankful for everyone who came and donated generously! This money will go a long way in India, so I'd like to give a massive thank you to all those who selflessly donated!

EMMA'S CAR BOOT SALES

As a second fundraising event, I decided to hold a number of car boot sales. I asked friends, family and neighbours to donate items and on the 18th July and 15th August I headed to the Vineyard Car Boot sales in Coleraine in the early hours of the morning. This car boot sale is the biggest in Ireland and a large number of people attended the event. On the 5th September, my family and I also participated in another car boot sale in Antrim, raising a total of £625 from 3 car boot sales. I'd like to thank everyone who kindly donated items for my car boot sales- they were very successful! Some items donated were also sold on Gumtree with the help of my sister, Rebecca and my Dad, raising £150. I am also part of the Sound Ministry Team in my church (Glenwherry Presbyterian) making CDs to be distributed to church members who can't make Sunday services and the church kindly decided to donate funds of £125 to our project this year- I'd like to thank Roy and Trevor for their kind donations to ASHA.

MICHAEL'S FRY UP

On the 30th of May I held a 'fry' morning in Ballee Baptist Church. The event ran smoothly with a team of family and friends sweating over pans in the kitchen. A huge thank you must go to them for their hard work. I am delighted to say an amazing total of over £1000 was raised. Finally I would like to thank anyone who supported this event and all donations were greatly appreciated!
